A shocking case has emerged from Latur district in Maharashtra, where a man allegedly staged his own death to claim a ₹1 crore insurance policy. The accused, Ganesh Chauhan, is accused of murdering an elderly man named Govind, who had asked for a lift, and burning him inside his car.
On Sunday morning, police found a burnt car with a charred body in Ausa taluka, initially believing the deceased to be Ganesh, as the vehicle belonged to him. However, police investigation revealed it was a well-planned conspiracy to fraudulently obtain insurance money. Ganesh Chauhan’s attempt to fake his death failed, and he was arrested after police unraveled the case.
Authorities said the crime was committed solely for financial gain, and further legal proceedings are underway.
