Smart India Hackathon at Kanjirappally
The hardware edition of the Smart India Hackathon, an initiative by the Union Ministry of Education, is set to kick off at Amal Jyothi College, Kanjirappally, on Wednesday. The event will be inaugurated by Higher Education Minister R. Bindu.
Scheduled to run non-stop from December 11 to 15, the hackathon aims to harness technology to address five pressing challenges faced by the common man in daily life. These challenges have been identified by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and Ayush.
Winners will be chosen through continuous evaluation by an expert panel comprising representatives from various institutions under the Union government. Five teams that excel in solving each of the identified problems will receive a cash prize of ₹ 1 lakh each. Additionally, every participating team will be granted ₹20,000 as financial assistance to purchase tools and transform their ideas into working prototypes.
