
DMK stage demonstration against Centre not releasing job scheme funds

The DMK cadre on Saturday staged protests in various places in Dindigul, Sivaganga and Ramanathapuram districts demanding the immediate release of the ₹4,034 crore pending dues under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).
In Dindigul, the protests were led by Rural Development Minister I. Periyasamy. The DMK cadre condemned the Central government and demanded the immediate release of the funds. They also raised slogans. In Sivaganga, the protests were led by Minister for Co-Operatives K.R. Periyakaruppan and in Ramanathapuram, the protests were led by DMK leader R. S. Bharathi.
