BSP will fight all elections alone, says Mayawati

The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has decided to revert to its old strategy of contesting elections alone, after its alliance with the Samajwadi Party (SP) failed to stop the BJP from romping home in Uttar Pradesh for a second consecutive general election.

Party chief and former U.P. Chief Minister Mayawati on Monday asserted that the BSP would contest all major and minor elections on its own strength in the “interest of the party and the movement.”

Her declaration has shut the door on the possibilities of a renewal of an alliance with the SP in future.
