Two persons held under POCSO Act

The Tondiarpet All-Women Police have arrested two men in connection with the sexual assault of a minor girl.

The 13-year-old victim’s parents were estranged. While she lived with her grandmother in the Washermenpet police district, her father worked at a quarry in Andhra Pradesh. The girl went missing from home on February 6, and the grandmother alerted her father. After a futile search, the father lodged a complaint with the Washermenpet police seeking to trace the girl.

The investigation revealed that the girl had called one of her relatives. After analysing the call, the police traced it to a mobile phone used by a person in the Perungudi area. Further investigation led to the arrest of Praveen, 32, a conservancy firm worker, and his associate Vijayakumar, 52, of Kodungaiyur.
