Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrated with devotion in Vijayawada temples
Sri Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm at the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri, in Vijayawada on Saturday. Special rituals were performed in the main temple mandapam, with executive officer (EO) V.K. Seena Nayak and his family participating in the pujas. Sacred worship was also offered to the cow as part of the festivities.
Temple priests, vedic committee, and support staff made elaborate arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of celebrations by providing special facilities for the devotees. Large numbers of devotees, after having darshan of Goddess Kanaka Durga, joined the Janmashtami pujas and received the blessings of Lord Krishna.
As part of the programme, temple scholars delivered spiritual discourses followed by the traditional ‘utti kottututa’ (breaking the curd pot) in front of the Rajagopuram near Sri Mallikarjuna Mahamandapam.
