Suryakumar Yadav confirms Sanju Samson's new role for Bangladesh T20Is
New Delhi: India vs Bangladesh first T20 match will be played on 6 October in Gwalior and this three-match series will run till 12 October. Now India’s T20 team captain Suryakumar Yadav has announced that Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma will open the innings for India in the upcoming series. Samson, who has been continuously out of Team India, is now getting a chance to open in the entire series.
One of the reasons for promoting Samson to the opening slot is that Abhishek Sharma is the only player in Team India’s squad against Bangladesh who plays as a regular opener. Samson has not been able to perform well as an opener for India, but in the IPL, he has been scoring a lot of runs as an opener while playing for Rajasthan Royals.
Before the match in Gwalior, captain Suryakumar Yadav said in the press conference, “Sanju Samson will play and open for the team. His partner will be Abhishek Sharma.” This announcement shows how much faith the team management has in Samson. On the other hand, talking about Abhishek Sharma, he made his international debut for India on the Zimbabwe tour and in the same series, he laid the foundation of his bright future by scoring a century.
