Students, cops face off in Patna during march to Raj Bhavan over Bihar civil services exam

Bihar’s student protest has intensified as thousands of candidates marched in Patna demanding reforms and action over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations. Students are demanding cancellation of disputed exams, including the Bihar Police Sub-Inspector exam, and reforms in BSSC and TRE-4 recruitment.

They also want the BPSC Examination Controller, Rajesh Kumar, to be dismissed and arrested over his controversial “dog barking” remark. Although he was suspended and later expressed regret, protesters say suspension is not enough. Students demanded direct talks with Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, refusing to meet district officials.

Police stopped the march near Dak Bungalow Chowk using barricades, while protesters broke some barricades and climbed onto police and water-cannon vehicles. Water cannon and lathi-charge allegations further escalated tensions. Students also criticised BPSC’s decision to conduct examinations in two stages instead of a single examination.
