A woman from Keralam travel vlogger claimed that she was "arrested" by the "Mujahideen" in Bamyan in Afghanistan.

Arunima, who documents her solo global journeys on her Facebook page Backpacker Arunima, posted frantic SOS messages online seeking help to reach the Indian Embassy during the ordeal. Local Mujahideen fighters stopped her, issuing a formal notice that she was being detained for lacking an official permit and traveling without a male guide.

Though Arunima had worn a purdah to blend in throughout her weeks in the country, she had already faced restrictions, including a denied travel permit in Jalalabad. The situation in Bamyan escalated when officers insisted she pay a fine for breaking rules regarding solo female travel before leaving the area.
