School van vandalised in Lucknow allegedly by Kanwariyas

A school van carrying students was attacked with stones allegedly by a group of youth who were part of the Kanwar Yatra, at Charak Crossing in the Chowk police station limits in Lucknow on Monday (August 3, 2026). The Lucknow Police booked three unidentified individuals after the incident. The police have not confirmed their identity and a search is on to trace them.

In his complaint, Amir, the driver of the van, alleged that a group of youth riding motorcycles had thrown stones at the vecicle and also threatened to kill him before fleeing. The case has been registered under Sections 131 (attack on another person without any reason) and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

“At Charak Crossing under Chowk police station today morning, three unidentified people vandalised a school van. On getting information, the police reached the spot but they had fled by then. A case has been registered and strict action will be taken against the guilty,” said Kamlesh Kumar Dixit Deputy Commissioner of Police (West).
