Days after former cricketer-turned-politician and Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu’s wife, Navjot Kaur Sidhu, was suspended from the party following her controversial remark that the person who gives “a suitcase of ₹500 crore” becomes the Chief Minister, Ms. Sidhu announced her decision to quit the party.
Announcing her decision to quit the party on ‘X,’ Ms. Sidhu stated that promising leaders within the organisation are not being heard. She criticised Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, blaming him for “damaging the organisation”. She blamed him of “selling the party for petty gains with an understanding with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).”
On December 8, 2025, Ms. Sidhu was suspended from Punjab State Congress Committee without mentioning any reason. “Dr. Navjot Kaur Sidhu is hereby suspended from the primary membership of the party with immediate effect,” the order stated.
