In a Redwood City hearing, two doctors testified that Dharmesh Patel, of Indian origin, experienced major depressive disorder and a psychotic break when he drove his family off a US cliff. Patel, his wife Neha, and their children, aged 7 and 4, survived. Charged with three counts of attempted murder last January, prosecutors linked the incident at Devil's Slide, Highway 1, near Half Moon Bay.
