In view of the security situation in Bangladesh, the Indian Visa Application Centres in Rajshahi and Khulna have been closed. A notice on the IVAC website stated this. The notice states, “In view of the prevailing security situation, we would like to inform you that IVAC Rajshahi and Khulna will remain closed today (December 18, 2025). Applicants who have booked appointment slots for submission today will be offered slots at a later date.”
This is the second consecutive day that the Indian Visa Centre has been closed in Bangladesh due to the security situation. Earlier on Wednesday, the Indian Visa Application Centre in Dhaka was closed at 2 pm amid hate and inflammatory speeches against India. IVAC had issued a statement in this regard, informing applicants that slots for submission of applications would be offered at a later date.
Concerns have arisen about the security of the Indian mission under Muhammad Yunus’s rule. A day earlier on Wednesday, the Indian Foreign Ministry summoned Bangladesh High Commissioner in New Delhi Mohammad Riaz Hamidullah and lodged a formal diplomatic protest over threats to the Indian High Commission in Dhaka and inflammatory anti-India statements.
