In a major jolt for Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra is now the third largest car manufacturer in India, surpassing the Ratan Tata-led company owing to a healthy 24 percent increase in sales in September 2024. Anand Mahindra, who owns Mahindra & Mahindra, announced the milestone on his official X handle.

Calling Tata Motors a “respected elder brother”, Anand Mahindra said the Ratan Tata-led firm spurs Mahindra & Mahindra to keep improving.

“The only race worth winning is the one you race against yourself; Against your OWN aspiration. We have always seen Tata Motors as a respected elder brother that spurs us to keep improving ourselves. And we hope that we too, motivate them to reach new heights. The journey will always have twists and turns, but we continue to travel together,” the Mahindra & Mahindra Group chairman wrote on X.
