Tata Trusts Chairman Noel Tata’s son, Neville Tata, was on Tuesday inducted as a trustee on the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust (SDTT), which is the single-largest shareholder in Tata Sons with a 27.98 per cent stake in the holding company of the salt-to-software conglomerate. The Board of Trustees of the SDTT has unanimously approved the induction of Bhaskar Bhat, former Titan Company MD and CEO.
The appointments become effective on November 12, 2025.
The appointments come shortly after the resolution of a prolonged tussle between two factions, one led by Noel Tata and another by the late Ratan Tata’s close associate Mehli Mistry, over control of several Tata trusts that collectively own about 66 per cent of Tata Sons. Mistry was recently voted out of key trusts and chose not to mount a legal challenge, as many had anticipated.
According to a statement, the Board of Trustees unanimously decided to appoint the 32-year-old Neville, who joined his father’s company Trent Ltd in 2016 and has since played a key role in expanding the affordable fashion chain Zudio. His appointment takes effect from Wednesday for a three-year term.
