Shaheen Afridi is not Wasim Akram, don’t overhype him: Ravi Shastri after India beat Pakistan

Former India coach Ravi Shastri has slammed young pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi's ordinary performances in the ongoing World Cup 2023, saying that he is not Wasim Akram and that people should not overestimate him. Shastri made those remarks during India's convincing victory against Pakistan in the ongoing World Cup.

Shaheen Afridi was supposed to spearhead Pakistan's pace attack in the World Cup but is yet to make an impact in the first three group matches. He took just two wickets for 103 runs in his first two games, against the Netherlands and Sri Lanka. As a result, his form was a major concern heading into the India game. On the big day, India captain Rohit Sharma took Shaheen to the cleaners.

Shaheen managed to dismiss Gill in the third over, but his inswing threat was nullified by the Indian skipper, who smashed a boundary and a six against him in the Powerplay, where India pummelled 79 runs with Rohit scoring nearly 60 percent of them.
