Pant Rises to 11th, Ashwin Jumps 14 Places in ICC Rankings

India opener Rohit Sharma and all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin made major gains in the lastest ICC Test rankings. Rohit jumped 9 places to occupy the 14 spot in the list of batsmen. The senior batsman's attained his career best position in October 2019, when he was ranked 10th after notching a double century against South Africa in Ranchi.

All-rounder Ashwin closed gap with 6th placed pacer Stuart Broad in the rankings for bowlers. Notably, Ashwin took 8 wickets including a five-wicket-haul in the 2nd Test match against England in Chennai. He has gained 33 rating points to reach within three points Broad and to within 21 of second-ranked Neil Wagner.

Ashwin was also awarded hadsomely for his 5th Test century in the longest format. The gritty ton lifted him 14 places to 81st in batting rankings. The 34-year-old also gained a placed to break into the top 5 of all-rounder's list.
