ICC Test rankings: Rohit Sharma jumps 9 places to break into top 15, Ashwin closes gap with Stuart Broad
India all-rounder Rohit Sharma and all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin made major gains in the latest ICC Test rankings. Rohit Sharma jumped 9 places to reach on 14th position in the list of batsmen, while Ashwin closed gaps with 6th placed Stuart Broad in the ranking for bowlers.

India opener Rohit Sharma and all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin made major gains in the lastest ICC Test rankings. Rohit jumped 9 places to occupy the 14 spot in the list of batsmen. The senior batsman's attained his career best position in October 2019, when he was ranked 10th after notching a double century against South Africa in Ranchi.
All-rounder Ashwin closed gap with 6th placed pacer Stuart Broad in the rankings for bowlers. Notably, Ashwin took 8 wickets including a five-wicket-haul in the 2nd Test match against England in Chennai. He has gained 33 rating points to reach within three points Broad and to within 21 of second-ranked Neil Wagner.
Ashwin was also awarded hadsomely for his 5th Test century in the longest format. The gritty ton lifted him 14 places to 81st in batting rankings. The 34-year-old also gained a placed to break into the top 5 of all-rounder's list.
23-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant’s 58 not out in the first innings has helped him continue to surge in the rankings and he is now at a career-best 11th position. Chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav returns in 50th position while left-arm spinner Axar Patel has entered the rankings in 68th place after an impressive debut that saw him take seven wickets including a five-wicket haul in the second innings.
England captain Joe Root, who recently toppled Virat Kohli to enter in the top 3, has dropped behind Marnus Labuschagne to 4th poistion. Virat Kohli continues to occupy the 5th spot.
