Israel-Hamas War: Palestinian militant group Hamas has rejected a proposal for partial ceasefire and hostage exchange by Israel and reasserted its original demands for a permanent ceasefire in the embattled Gaza Strip.

In its response to Israel’s proposal, Hamas has stuck to its original demands for a permanent ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the entirety of Gaza, the return of Palestinians to northern Gaza and other areas, a surge in humanitarian aid and the start of the Strip’s reconstruction, Xinhua reported.

According to Xinhua, Hamas issued a statement, emphasising its readiness to conclude a “serious and genuine” prisoner-hostage exchange deal with Israel that the faction had received on April 8.
