Gujarat Police to seek Interpol red-corner notice against rape-accused Nithyananda

The Interpol has issued a blue corner notice to help locate self-styled godman Nithyananda, who fled India last year after a rape case was registered against him, Gujarat Police said on on Wednesday. The police said that they are now working on getting a red corner noticed issued against Nithyananda.

A red corner notice requests law enforcement agencies across the world to provisionally detain the person named in the notice and inform the country that has sought the notice. However, agencies are not duty-bound to act on a red corner notice.

A blue corner notice, on the other hand, merely seeks information about a person's whereabouts and his/her activities.
