Zaheer Khan will do wonders for LSG: Lucknow owner Sanjiv Goenka
LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka has opened up about KL Rahul's future with the franchise and claimed that decisions about retentions will only be made after the rules are out. Rahul's has been with LSG since the franchise's inception in 2022 and been their captain. The Indian star led them to back-to-back playoff appearances in 2022 and 2023 before a lacklustre 2024 season saw them miss out on the spot. During this year's IPL, Goenka was seen in an animated chat with Rahul, which had gone viral.
This started speculations that Rahul could be allowed to leave the franchise. However, the LSG owner would meet up with the Indian batter recently, which sort of dampened the rumours of his exit. Speaking to PTI, Goenka said he was a little surprised that the meeting got a lot of attention as he had always had such interactions with Rahul over the past few years. The LSG owner said that Rahul is an integral part of the team and he's like family and would remain the same.
"Look, I've been meeting KL regularly over last three years. I'm a little surprised this meeting got so much attention. As I've said we have not taken any call till the retention rules are out," Goenka told reporters while unveiling Zaheer Khan as their team mentor.
