Women Congress members question linking women reservation with delimitation

Women leaders of the Dakshina Kannada unit of the Congress said here on Monday that the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill, 2026 related to 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha got defeated in the Lok Sabha as it was linked with delimitation and Census.

Mamata Gatty, chairperson of Karnataka Cashew Development Corporation, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi linked women’s reservation with delimitation and Census with political motives. Hence the Bill got defeated. “Women are definitely sad over politicisation of women’s reservation,” she said.
