Woman killed, daughter injured in firing in Manipur by suspected militants
Manipur Violence: A high-alert was sounded in all districts of Manipur after a woman was gunned down, and her daughter among four people were injured in a gun-and-bomb attack by suspected Kuki militants in the Imphal West district of the ethnic-conflict torn state on Sunday.
An official directive issued by Manipur Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Singh on Sunday directed Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) in all districts of the northeastern state to remain on “maximum alert”.
“All district SSPs are directed to remain on high alert and vigilant, including in fringe areas. All forces deployed in their areas must also be alerted. Proper coordination between the deployed forces is essential to prevent any untoward incident. Joint combing operations must be conducted. The PARA ADGP (LO), Zonal IGP, and Range DIGP must closely monitor the law and order situation to prevent any such occurrence,” reads the ‘Alert Message’ issued by DGP Singh.
