Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal, during his speech at the Vishesh Sampark event, recounted an interaction with his father when he pitched an idea about a startup. As he comes from a small town in Haryana, when he spoke about an idea of launching Zomato in 2008 his father was very skeptical about it.
Gathering was organised by Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, where Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal spoke about his initial struggle in his journey as an entrepreneur.
“When I told my dad about starting Zomato, he said, ‘Janta hai tera baap kaun hai?’ which basically meant ‘You can’t do a startup.’ Coming from a small town in Punjab, this was the mindset,” Goyal said.
