CM announces Secretariat revamp, 50,000 flats for poor
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced a major policy change aimed at safeguarding the rights of slum dwellers across the capital. In a press statement, she assured that no slum resident will be harassed or forcibly evicted.
Departments such as the Railways and Delhi Development Authority (DDA) have been instructed to stop demolition drives and take no further action against slum settlements until a revised policy is implemented. CM Gupta revealed that the government will rehabilitate residents by repairing and allotting 500 unoccupied flats to eligible families.
This announcement comes in response to ongoing protests and public outcry over the recent demolitions in various slum areas. Many affected communities had demanded intervention from the Chief Minister, urging the government to provide permanent housing solutions instead of displacing families.
