US Supreme Court curbs power of individual judges to block Trump

US President Donald Trump declared a sweeping victory for his administration following a major Supreme Court decision that sharply limited the power of federal judges to block executive actions. Donald Trump said, in a jubilant appearance at the White House briefing room, “Big one, wasn’t it? This was a big decision."

Calling it an “amazing decision", Donald Trump described the ruling as a triumph for “the Constitution, the separation of powers and the rule of law." The 6-3 ruling by the US Supreme Court arose from Donald Trump’s controversial executive order seeking to end birthright citizenship for children born on American soil to undocumented or non-resident parents.

While the judges did not directly rule on the constitutionality of that order, the broader decision delivered a significant blow to the use of nationwide injunctions- a legal tool that has repeatedly stalled Trump’s agenda since his first day in office.
