The United States and Iran are reportedly close to finalising a 60-day memorandum of understanding (MoU) that would pave the way for the reopening of the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz and the start of negotiations on Tehran’s nuclear programme and other outstanding issues. The proposed framework, which still requires final approval, is aimed at easing regional tensions and creating a diplomatic window to address broader disputes between the two sides.
