Two women in Madhya Pradesh's Rewa district were partially buried when gravel was dumped on them from a truck, while they were protesting against road construction in the area, police said on Sunday.

The women, identified as Mamta Pandey and Asha Pandey, were buried up to their necks in the pile of gravel while they were opposing the construction of a road on private land in Hinota Jorot village under Mangawa police station.

A video of the incident, which took place on Saturday, showed two women sitting behind a truck laden with gravel, which was off-loaded on them. They were later rescued by the locals and rushed to a nearby community health centre for treatment.
