In what could be termed as a move for the removal of Justice Yashwant Varma, from whose house a large cash haul was discovered, the Chief Justice of India has forwarded a report to the President of India and the Prime Minister.

“The Chief Justice of India, in terms of the In-House Procedure, has written to the Honourable President of India and Honourable Prime Minister of India enclosing therewith a copy of the 3-Member Committee report dated 03.05.2025 along with the letter/response dated 06.05.2025 received from Mr Justice Yashwant Varma," said the Supreme Court in a statement.

As per the In-House Procedure adopted by the Full Court in 1999, such a move to forward the In-House Panel report to the President and Prime Minister is adopted if the Committee finds that there is substance in the allegations contained in the complaint and the misconduct disclosed in the allegations is such that it calls for the initiation of proceedings for removal of the judge.
