Supreme Court stays criminal proceedings against psephologist Sanjay Kumar

In a major relief for psephologist Sanjay Kumar, who was at the eye of a political storm over Maharashtra poll analysis figures, the Supreme Court on Monday stayed the proceedings in the FIRs registered against him by the state police.

The Maharashtra Police had filed FIRs against Kumar, also the Co-Director of Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS), for a tweet laying out a mistaken analysis of the Maharashtra assembly elections of 2024.
