Farmers are set to gather at Delhi’s Kisan Ghat today to protest against the proposed India-US trade agreement under the banner of the Desh Bachao Morcha. However, authorities have not granted permission for the demonstration, leading to heightened security arrangements and restrictions at key entry points.
The Shambhu Border between Punjab and Haryana has been heavily barricaded as farmers from Punjab begin arriving in the area while attempting to move towards Delhi. The Amritsar-Delhi National Highway has reportedly been closed, and traffic diversions have been implemented to manage the situation.
Security forces and local administration have been deployed to prevent protesters from proceeding towards the national capital. Farmers have been opposing the trade agreement, raising concerns over its possible impact on agriculture and the interests of farming communities.
