SpaceX to build Trump's Golden Dome missile shield? What Musk said

Elon Musk on Friday dismissed reports suggesting that SpaceX is bidding for a role in the Trump administration's ambitious "Golden Dome" missile defence shield.

“SpaceX has not tried to bid for any contract in this regard,” Musk wrote on social platform X. “Our strong preference would be to stay focused on taking humanity to Mars. If the President asks us to help in this regard, we will do so, but I hope that other companies (not SpaceX) can do this.”

His comments came shortly after media reports claimed that SpaceX, along with Palantir and Anduril, had emerged as frontrunners for a key part of the missile defence initiative. The companies were reported to have pitched their plan to top US officials, including the Pentagon and the White House.
