The Supreme Court on Wednesday said it will examine on November 17 whether farmers in Punjab and Haryana were evading satellite surveillance to burn crop stubble, The Hindu reported.
The burning of crop residue is among the contributors to air pollution in Delhi, which has been in the “severe” category for the past three days.
Amicus curiae Aparajita Singh on Wednesday told the court that photographs and other material posted online by a scientist at the United States’ National Aeronautics and Space Administration showed that stubble burning had neither reduced nor stopped, The Hindu reported.
