Saudi Arabia Confirms Houthi Ballistic Missile Attack On Riyadh, Missile Intercepted

Saudi Arabia on Saturday confirmed that the Houthis is Yemen has attempted to strike Riyadh with a ballistic missile as west Asia tensions continue to rise. It was the first reported attempt to attack Saudi capital since the latest escalating war by the Tehran-backed rebels.

According to Saudi-led coalition, the missile was intercepted immediately after the attack began. One explosion also was heard in parts of Riyadh and some resident even reported smoke near the airport. However, authorities have reported no causalities or any property damage.

The Saudi-led coalition also said the Houthis attempted to target civilian infrastructure in the Red Sea port city of Yanbu, where a key Saudi pipeline ends, as well as Taif, Baysh and Farasan. The attacks were reportedly thwarted, though the coalition did not provide further details.
