Donald Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, has said that no deal with Iran will be completed unless it follows Trump’s terms. Witkoff now says Iran must fully shut down its nuclear program, taking a U-turn from its earlier position.
Earlier, he had indicated Iran might enrich low-level uranium for peaceful use, such as creating energy. However, now, he demands Iran must stop all weaponization and enrichment of uranium.
This sudden turnaround in US policy may well render it harder to achieve a peaceful deal with Iran. It has brought back fears of a possible military strike at Iran's nuclear plants if talks fail.
