Nearly two years after he was first recommended by the Supreme Court collegium, the Centre on Thursday notified the appointment of Advocate Somasekhar Sundaresan as a judge of the Bombay High Court.

“In exercise of the power conferred by the Constitution of India, the Hon’ble President of India, after consultation with Hon’ble Chief Justice of India, is pleased to appoint Shri Somasekhar Sundaresan, Advocate as an Additional Judge of the Bombay High Court,” Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Sundaresan was part of the six-member expert panel set up by the Supreme Court in March to conduct an inquiry after American firm Hindenburg Research, in a report on January 24, alleged that billionaire Gautam Adani’s group was pulling off the “largest con in corporate history.”
