Prakasam district witnessed a marginal fall of 6.61 per cent in overall crime rate in 2025. Against the 8,371 cases registered in 2024, the current year witnessed only 7,818 cases. The district also solved several sensational cases during the year.
Addressing a year-end media conference in Ongole on Tuesday, Superintendent of Police (SP) V. Harshavardhan Raju said the year witnessed 1,122 cases on bodily offences, 632 cases on property-related offences, 709 women-related crime, 757 road accidents, 44 cybercrime cases, which were actually much lesser than the number witnessed in 2024.
Mr. Raju said property worth ₹4.44 crore had been recovered of the total ₹8.70 crore-worth stolen property, pegging the recovery rate at an impressive 51.02 per cent. He attributed the fall in crime to the deployment of drones, CCTV cameras and enhanced night beats in sensitive areas.
