PM Modi Arrives In Tokyo, To Attend 15th India-Japan Annual Summit
PM Modi Japan Visit LIVE: Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his four-day trip to Japan and China on Friday, focusing on boosting trade, attracting investment, and improving diplomatic ties. This visit comes at a time when India’s relations with the United States have been strained due to President Donald Trump’s trade and tariff policies. Before leaving for Japan on Thursday night, Modi expressed confidence, saying he believes the trip will strengthen India’s interests and help build partnerships that support regional peace, security, and sustainable growth.
During his August 29–30 visit to Japan, the main highlight will be his annual summit with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. Japan is expected to announce plans to double its investment in India, and both countries are likely to sign several agreements to deepen cooperation in areas like defence, technology, and infrastructure.
After Japan, Modi will head to the Chinese city of Tianjin for a two-day visit starting August 31. There, he will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping to discuss ways to stabilise and improve ties, especially after tensions over the eastern Ladakh border dispute.
