Beforing adjourning proceeding for the day, Lok Sabha SpeakerLok Sabha SpeakerLok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said he had advised Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to come to the House on Thursday (February 6, 2026) over “definite information” that Opposition members were ready to protest in an “unprecedented manner”.

The House passed the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address earlier in the day without the customary reply by the PM.

The Prime Minister had been scheduled to reply to the discussion on the motion thanking President Droupadi Murmu for her address to the joint sitting of Parliament at around 5 p.m. on Wednesday (February 3, 2026). However, the House had to be adjourned as women MPs from Opposition parties walked across the aisle and held up banners in front of the Mr. Modi’s front row seat.
