Monsoon Session on ‘ventilator’ as Shah seeks two-thirds majority for Delimitation Bills: Congress

The Congress on Monday (September 7, 2026) alleged that Parliament’s Monsoon Session was being kept on “ventilator” as Union Home Minister Amit Shah continued to “scramble” for a two-thirds majority in the Lok Sabha to push through the proposed Delimitation Bills.

Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said it was unusual that the session had not yet been prorogued, 25 days after both Houses were adjourned sine die on August 13.

“Normally, prorogation takes place 3-4 days after adjournment sine die,” Mr. Ramesh said in a post on X, drawing a parallel with the 2015 Monsoon Session, which remained open for 28 days after adjournment.
