SunRisers Hyderabad are set to change their captain for the third time in three seasons. IndiaToday.in has learnt that SRH are going to hand the mantle of captaincy to Australia's ODI World Cup-winning captain Pat Cummins, replacing Aiden Markram, who led the side in 2023.
Markram, a two-time SA20 winning captain with Sunrisers Eastern Cape will be stepping down from his duties ahead of IPL 2024. Sources in the know told IndiaToday.in that SRH splurged Rs 20.50 crore on Cummins keeping his captaincy attributes in mind, and that his 'purple patch' in international cricket cannot be ignored.
Pat Cummins' Australia were in riveting form in 2023. The side beat India in the World Test Championship Final and then beat the Rohit Sharma side once again in the ODI World Cup Final in the same year.
