Nursing Trainee Raped In Maharashtra, Auto Driver Had Spiked Her Drink

A 19-year-old nursing student was allegedly drugged and raped by an auto-rickshaw driver while she was on her way home from college in Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri. According to reports, the woman had taken an auto-rickshaw while returning home. The accused allegedly mixed some sedative in drinking water and offered to her. Later, when the woman fell unconscious after drinking the spiked water, the driver took her to an isolated place, and sexually assaulted her.

After regaining consciousness, the victim informed her family and later registered a police complaint. ccording to the complaint, the incident took place at Champak Maidan, police said.

As per a report in India Today, the incident has triggered protests by the city’s nursing community, with civilians and hospital staffers blocking traffic in several parts of Ratnagiri. The authorities have assured action against the culprit and urged the protestors to maintain calm. Presently, the woman is admitted to a state-run hospital for treatment while the accused driver is on the run.
