Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju strongly criticised Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi over his remarks against Union Home Minister Amit Shah during the Lok Sabha debate on the anti-paper leak Bill.
Rijiju said the government was "extremely upset" for two reasons: first, he alleged Rahul Gandhi failed to make any substantive intervention on the Bill itself, and second, accused him of making misleading and "unparliamentary" remarks against the Home Minister.
Rijiju asserted that ministers do not issue orders for police firing, saying such decisions fall within the jurisdiction of the magistrate or Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) present at the spot. He further claimed Rahul Gandhi had "trapped himself" with his remarks and expressed disappointment over the Opposition leader's intervention during the debate.
