During the monsoon session of the Maharashtra Assembly, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Shiv Sena UBT president Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday indulged in a light-hearted banter. Mr. Fadnavis invited Mr. Thackeray over to “join the ruling side”.

Mr. Thackeray later said that conversations in a lighter vein should not be taken seriously. “There is no scope till 2029 now, Uddhavji. Now, we can’t come over to that side. But you can come over to this side, through some means,” Mr. Fadnavis said evoking laughter.

He was speaking during the farewell ceremony of Shiv Sena UBT leader Ambadas Danve. Mr. Thackeray then asked if the CM will thank him for taking away leaders from his party. This was in reference to with Mr. Danve who had joined the Shiv Sena after parting ways with the BJP. The banter comes after a substantial period of strained relations between the two leaders.
