Tej Pratap Yadav Sent To 14-Day Judicial Custody After Arrest In Patna Student Protest

RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav was arrested and remanded to 14 days of judicial custody following violence during the Bihar Bandh called to protest the alleged NEET paper leak and police action against demonstrating students. The bandh witnessed significant political unrest in Patna, particularly around Exhibition Road and Dak Bungalow Chowk, where clashes and vandalism were reported.

Police accused Tej Pratap of inciting the crowd and encouraging acts of violence and property damage during the protests. Although he was initially detained and released earlier in the day, Patna Police re-arrested him from a shopping mall later in the evening. He was produced before a judge at a late-night hearing and subsequently sent to Beur Jail under judicial custody.

Speaking after the hearing, Tej Pratap Yadav's lawyer claimed the defense had only received the arrest memo and not a copy of the FIR. He stated that the primary charges include Section 109 and allegations related to obstructing police officers while they were discharging their duties. He also noted that the earlier attempt-to-murder charge had been dropped.
