NEET Protest Row: Congress Vows Parliament Standoff Until Demands on Education Minister Are Met

The opposition is maintaining that the demand for the Education Minister’s resignation comes from students and that accountability must be fixed because students have lost trust in the system. Opposition leaders, including Mallikarjun Kharge, argued in the Rajya Sabha that the Education Minister should resign first and only then can discussions begin.

They cited student protests, alleged police action, and concerns of affected families as reasons for their demand. The government, however, accused the opposition of being irresponsible and avoiding discussion. BJP leaders said the government is ready to debate the NEET paper leak issue and other matters in Parliament but wants the discussion to happen according to parliamentary rules.

The deadlock continues as both sides remain firm on their positions. The opposition insists on the Education Minister’s resignation before any debate, while the government has given no indication of accepting that demand. The political confrontation has now moved beyond the House, with protests and clashes of slogans also taking place inside the Parliament premises.
