More than 5,000 students in Tirunelveli are to benefit after extension of Pudhumai Penn scheme, says Speaker

The extension of the Pudhumai Penn scheme to students of Tamil medium government-aided schools would ensure monthly assistance to 5,509 students in Madurai district, said Minister for Commercial Taxes and Registration P. Moorthy.

During the event for the distribution of monthly assistance to students here on Monday, Mr. Moorthy, after the launch of the scheme in 2022, about 7,340 students studying in 92 colleges benefitted from the scheme.

Now, with the extension of scheme to the students of classes VI to XII in government-aided schools, additional 5,509 students of 16 engineering colleges, 44 arts and science colleges, four medical colleges, two Industrial Training Institutes, three polytechnic colleges, a law college, a university, 25 pharmacy colleges, three agricultural colleges in the district would be benefitted.
