Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) has announced a massive investment of Rs 65,000 crore in Andhra Pradesh to set up 500 compressed biogas (CBG) plants over the next five years. This initiative is part of RIL’s clean energy strategy and marks the company’s largest investment outside of Gujarat.

Each CBG plant will require an investment of Rs 130 crore and will be established on wasteland throughout the state. The project is expected to generate substantial employment, with an estimated 250,000 direct and indirect job opportunities, according to the state government’s projections, as reported by Economic Times.

The investment plan was finalized during a meeting in Mumbai between Anant Ambani, who leads RIL’s clean energy initiatives, and Andhra Pradesh’s IT Minister Nara Lokesh. Lokesh also chairs the state cabinet’s sub-committee on job creation.
