At least eight persons were injured, three of them critically, in a massive explosion inside the Nowgam police station in Srinagar on Friday night, officials said. The Jammu and Kashmir police had recently unearthed an inter-State terror module and seized around 2,900 kg of explosives, including ammonium nitrate, in raids conducted in different States across the country.
The blast took place around 11.20 p.m., resulting in a huge flame engulfing the police station, officials said. Several vehicles parked on the police station premises caught fire and the impact of the blast was felt in the entire area, they added.
The injured, many with burn injuries, were shifted to nearby hospitals in Srinagar for treatment, officials said.
