Justice Mahesh Chandra Tripathi was sworn in as the 50th Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court at a brief oath-taking ceremony held at the Lok Bhavan, Mumbai, on Wednesday (September 9, 2026). Maharashtra Governor Governor Governor Jishnu Dev Varma administered the oath of office.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar were also present at the ceremony, along with a few Cabinet Ministers.
State Chief Secretary Rajesh Aggarwal read out the notification and Warrant of Appointment of the Chief Justice issued by the President of India. The swearing-in ceremony began with the National Song, followed by the National Anthem, and State song by the police band. The ceremony concluded with the rendition of National Song and the National Anthem.
